Game-art: Photomanipulation [Dennis Kempe]

Assignment: Adapt 3 photo’s to create 3 different moods:

#1:

The original ‘Judgement of Cambyses’, by: Gerard David.

Adding a green tint to the person to be skinned, this now looks more like an alien dissection.

Adding a yellow layer on top of the original makes for a strong, vivid scene. It’s as though he is being skinned in under the setting sun.

A dark pallet added to the original image makes for a dark and sinister setting. As they used to say “When yon bell strikes three, under the axe thou shall be”. A nighty torture.

#2:

The original: ‘Wanderer above the mist’, by: Casper D. Friedrich.

Adding a strong yellow tint, makes it look as though the person is witnessing the sunrise.

Adding a level of red makes it look as though the valley is set ablaze. Either that or it may seem as though the person is looking at the sunset.

This adaption makes it look as though the hills are full of snow, making this the perfect ski-resort.

#3:

Original ‘Net of being’, by: Alex Grey

Green has always been a dirty color and is no exception in this particular case. The green color creates a nasty, slimey look.

Inverting this image creates an almost otherworldly look. Adding the effect this painting already has in it’s normal state, makes for a great alien-esque painting.

Adding a dark, red color creates this bordeaux-like tint. This makes the painting feel very elegant, maybe even slightly erotic.
